Maxwell Otieno has been relegated to being an impact substitute at AFC Leopards in recent games following Arthur Gitego's arrival.

AFC Leopards forward Maxwell Otieno is willing to fight tooth and nail to establish his status as a reliable striker under Tomas Trucha in order to help the side achieve its targets.

Otieno has recently been relegated to being an impact sub, especially since the arrival of Arthur Gitego, who has started remarkably, scoring four goals since he penned down a two-year contract with the 12-time league champions.

The forward has become a cult hero at the club given his willingness to put in a shift whenever he plays upfront, with his industry as well as his willingness to defend his teammates on the pitch making him a fan favorite.

”When I step onto the pitch, I am always instructed to keep the ball and maintain the lead, so he (Tomas Trucha) asks me to put the pressure, maintain the intensity, and manage the game out,”  Otieno revealed, highlighting his role within the team recently.

Despite limited playing time, Otieno is focused on making the most of his opportunities and is prepared to work hard to earn more consistency in his performances.

He remains committed to following the coach's instructions diligently, emphasizing his determination to contribute positively whenever called upon.

“If I am given enough playing time, I can earn more consistency. But for now, I do what the coach asks me to do. I just have to work hard and if I get my chance, I will utilise it well.

“I want to score goals and help the team moving forward.”

Leopards are on a good run of form at the moment. They have lost just one of their last 10 games, and they are focused on getting continental football next season while finishing as high as they can in the league.

Otieno has revealed what the team aims to achieve by the end of the season.

“As a team, we have to finish in the highest position possible, and in the FKF Cup, we want to win it.

“We are not just there to give matches away and we are there to win it.”
