Mason Greenwood could be offered redemption with a move to Steven Gerrard's Al Ettifaq reportedly on the cards for him

Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood is reportedly being offered a chance to return to football by Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, which is currently being managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

Greenwood set to leave Manchester United

Greenwood is set to depart Manchester United after a mutual agreement with the club that it would be the best decision for both parties, after the Red Devils concluded an internal investigation.

The 21-year-old has not played for Manchester United for more than 18 months after he was accused of sexual and physical abuse against his partner Harriet Robson in January 2022.

Official charges against Greenwood were dropped by HRM Prosecutors after key witnesses in the case decided not to testify, but after a further six months of internal investigations, Manchester United decided that they did not want to keep Greenwood in the team due to backlash from fans at the thought of him representing the club.

Greenwood new target for Al Etifaq

The one-time England international has maintained his innocence as regards the charges of sexual and physical violence, although he noted that he had made some mistakes in his private life that he intends to correct, and he could be offered a chance to begin his career resurrection with Al Ettifaq.

The Saudi Pro League side have already recruited from England this summer, signing Liverpool and Three Lions legend Steven Gerrard as coach, while also taking on Jordan Henderson from the Reds as their biggest signing so far.

According to reports from TheSun, Al Ettifaq are considering a £10 million offer to Manchester to take the striker off their hands as they look to bolster their squad before the end of the summer transfer window.
