Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has jumped to the defence of Andre Onana, claiming “he hasn’t to take any blame” despite a less than convincing performance that saw him concede comical goals during their 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Fernandes insisted the Cameroonian custodian would be a great asset for Ten Hag’s side, describing him as “a great goalkeeper”.
The Ballon d’Or nominee has been less than convincing since completing a move to Old Trafford from Inter Milan in the summer, and Fernandes has insisted that the club should take the blame “as a team”.

“ It's a difficult situation for me, I let the team down. It's because of me we didn't win this game,’ said Onana who insisted on facing the media after United’s Group A defeat.
“ We started very well and after my mistake we lost control of the game. I still have a lot to prove (to the fans). My start hasn't been so good, not how I wanted.

Fernandes said: “Pellistri is one of the players that deserves his chances. He deserves a lot of credit for everything he’s been through and everything he has done for the team.
“He’s always available, he’s someone that's always training hard, he’s someone that deserves his chances and he did well.
“He did the job that the manager asked him to do and we are all happy for him because he really deserves to get his chances.”
