Liverpool could be forced to sell one of their strikers as he is pushing for a move to Italian champions Napoli over limited game time at Anfield last season.

Darwin Nunez is reportedly pushing for a move from Liverpool to Napoli, according to talkSPORT.

The Premier League champions are open to selling the Uruguayan striker this summer to finance the acquisition of a new attacker.

Several clubs from Saudi Arabia are also interested in Nunez, but Napoli appear to be the front-runners to keep him in Europe.

The reigning Serie A champions present an attractive option for the 26-year-old, who is also believed to be keen on working with manager Antonio Conte, known for his ability to maximise the performance of his forwards.

Despite recording 40 goals and 26 assists in 143 appearances for Liverpool, Nunez hasn't quite lived up to the £85 million price tag the Reds paid Benfica in 2022.

While a fan favourite at Anfield for his ability to disrupt opposing defences, he hasn't secured a key role under manager Arne Slot, starting only eight league games during their title-winning campaign.

Some Liverpool supporters have grown frustrated with Nunez's lack of finishing, as he only found the net seven times last season. Slot is reportedly looking for a new star striker and hopes to recoup over £59 million (€70 million) for Nunez.

Liverpool has already begun bolstering their squad for their title defence with two significant signings. Jeremie Frimpong arrived from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5 million to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who transferred to Real Madrid.

Frimpong's former Leverkusen team-mate, Florian Wirtz, also joined Liverpool in a record-breaking £116.5 million deal, with £100 million guaranteed. Milos Kerkez is expected to be Liverpool's third signing, joining from Bournemouth for £40 million.
