Kibera Black Stars coach Noah Abich lashed out at his players during a tense half-time pep talk but the manner in which he went about it has left fans divided

Kibera Black Stars coach Noah Abich’s half-time pep talk has been the subject of varied opinions among fans online.

An angry Abich laid into his players at half-time during their National Super League (NSL) match against Dimba Patriots on Sunday, accusing them of lacking seriousness after going down 1-0 in the 33rd minute.

“You want me to lose my job? Don’t joke, 33 minutes we concede, be serious,” said an angry Abich.

“If you do not want to play just leave. We are joking, this is not a team to lose [against]. We are not serious, or you are sabotaging me? We cannot work that way.”

Abich’s rant lifted his players somewhat as they equalised in the second half to end the match 1-1 in what was their third draw of the season.

However, his pep talk elicited mixed reactions from fans online with some lauding him while others felt he he should have used tactics to get the best out of his players in the second half.

“Instead of talking about tactics and where they went wrong, he is busy insulting players,” said a fan.

“Instead of talking strategies, he is ranting. Talk of how to counter their threats etc,” said another.

“So, it is about his job? Instead, tell them where the mistake was and they can do better,” commented a fan.

Others think Abich’s strategy was the best since he talks tactics in training and before matches.

“Tactics are given every day before that game. Now all they need is motivation by any means,” said a supporter.

“As hardened and talented player, I can attest that method of coaching works,” responded another one.

“After the tactical advices, this is what happens or you have not seen dressing room conversations even in the English Premier League. Even Mikel Artata shouts a lot.”

“A good coach ...he knows the capability of his team.”

“He knows the capabilities of his team, that’s why he is angry,” said another fan.

It is easy to understand why the former Nakuru All Stars, Nzoia Sugar, Sony Sugar, Chemelil Sugar, Sofapaka and Bandari player was fuming as his side are bottom of the NSL table after winning just one of their eight matches, losing four and drawing three.

Kibera Blacks Stars will play Gusii United in their next match on Saturday and Abich will be hoping for a reaction from his players.
