The midfielder has five assists and three goals for Koln this season.

Former Hannover 96 midfielder Linton Maina netted his third Bundesliga goal of the season as his FC Koln side thrashed Augsburg 3-1 while Daniel Anyembe clocked 90 minutes for Viborg in the Danish Super League.

Linton Maina

The Kenyan midfielder was trusted with a start as FC Koln moved further away from the relegation zone following their 3-1 win over Augsburg in the German Bundesliga.

Koln posted a blistering start to the game as Ellyes Skhiri tapped home from close range after a pass across the face of goal from Julian Chabot.

Things went from good to better for Koln in the 16th minute when Eric Martel slotted home a quickly taken throw from Ghanaian midfielder Kingsley Schindler.

Augsburg however halved the deficit a minute before the half-hour mark when the ball fell to Ruben Vargas after a goalmouth melee where Koln failed to clear their lines.

Koln restored their two-goal cushion in the 59th minute when a perfectly weighted pass from Dejan Ljubicic found Maina unmarked in the far post for him to tap in.

Maina is son to a Kenyan father and a German mother and is eligible to represent Harambee Stars having never made an appearance for the senior German national team.

Daniel Anyembe

Kenyan international Daniel Anyembe played the entire clash as his Viborg side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Aarhus in the Danish Super League.

The lone goal of the match was scored by Kevin Yakob two minutes after the halftime break which was enough for Aarhus to collect three points.

Clyde Senaji

Former Tusker FC midfielder Cylde Senaji collected his first piece of silverware after his Nyasa Big Bullets side edged Might Wanderers 2-1 in the Charity Shield.

It took only nine minutes for Bullets to open the scoring through Gasten Phodo with Stanley Billiat doubling their lead in the 71st minute.

Misheck Botomani pulled one back for Wanderers in the 77th minute but Bullets managed to hold on to the slender lead to win the season’s curtain raiser tournament.
