Kenyan forward Jonah Ayunga vows to lead St Mirren to redemption after back-to-back defeats in the Scottish Premiership.

Kenyan forward Jonah Ayunga is determined to lead St Mirren to redemption after the team's recent run of poor results, which included a disappointing 2-0 loss to Rangers at Ibrox Stadium.

The Buddies had hoped to bounce back after a narrow defeat to Ross County but fell short against the Light Blues, and then recently lost to St. Johnstone despite a hard-fought performance.

Ayunga and his teammates are now focusing on two crucial upcoming matches against Motherwell and Ross County in the Scottish Premiership.

In the aftermath of the defeat at Ibrox, Ayunga expressed the frustration and determination within the St Mirren camp.

"It was nice coming out, but when you get that feeling after losing a game, it's painful and annoying. The boys have come in disappointed because the performance was a lot better than up at Ross County.

"We had some good opportunities but the goals we gave away were disappointing for us. We came here and we wanted to get what we could out of the game. But obviously the next one's massive for us, and we need to win those two",he said as per Daily Record.

Ayunga, who recently returned to action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury, emphasized the importance of gradually regaining match fitness.

"It felt like I was working well. It felt like I could trust my body – just getting into it, feeling sharper and fitter. I felt good. I was happy to get 70 minutes under my belt, and it's another step in the right direction. You don't come back, and it's like ticked off.

"You feel it, and I'm still doing stuff in the gym, doing extra every day, still trying to keep on top of it – which I probably will have to do for the rest of the season," he added.

In a gesture of solidarity, Ayunga also expressed support for his teammate Ryan Strain, an Australia international, who was scheduled to undergo groin surgery, sidelining him for three months.

St Mirren's recent setbacks have tested the team's resilience, but with Ayunga's determination and the collective spirit of the squad, they aim to turn the tide and secure crucial victories in their upcoming matches against Motherwell and Ross County.
