Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy will have to get his tactics and selection spot on when his team plays minnows Chad in their second friendly match on Tuesday.

Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy is set to take charge of his fourth match since becoming coach of Kenya and there is pressure on him to secure victory on Tuesday.

Kenya face Chad in a second friendly match on Tuesday evening with memories of Saturday’ goalless draw still fresh after they dominated the match, created many chances but failed to score.

That saw McCarthy express his fury at his players for their inability to beat a Chad side ranked 177th in the world and he has to find a winning formula on Tuesday.

McCarthy fielded a team that had some old guards as well as a host of fresh faces and must get his tactics and selection spot on as failure to beat the African minnows for the second time in three days will not be taken lightly by Kenyan fans.

Benni McCarthy Begins to Feel the Pressure

The South African tactician has seen his team improve in their displays but that counts for nothing if they cannot score or beat easy opponents like Chad and having drawn 3-3 with The Gambia before a 2-1 home loss to Gabon, Tuesday’s match is a must-win.

Chad have just one win in their last 14 matches in all competitions but put in a defensive display to deny Kenya who had opportunities of their own but fluffed their lines.

The silver lining for McCarthy is that his team created chances with Boniface Muchiri a bright spot on the left wing while William Lenkupae got into good areas but he will need to put his scoring boots on after missing all the key opportunities on Saturday.

Harambee Stars fans have started applying pressure on McCarthy and his team and this is the perfect opportunity to quieten the noise as victory will bring confidence not just in the players but supporters ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championships in August.
