Former AFC Leopards midfielder Duncan Otieno released a ferocious strike in the 13th minute which was enough to give Police all three points at KCB's expense.

Kenya Police FC soared to second in the league standings with a 1-0 win over KCB FC at the Police Sacco Stadium to keep their slim hopes of clinching this season’s FKFPL title alive.

It was a game that was overshadowed by the slidy and muddy nature of the pitch which prevented the game from getting into any sort of rhythm, as the soaked pitch appeared keen to prevent the match from getting into any sort of rhythm.

Derrick Otanga nearly opened the scoring for KCB in the 10th minute, but the soggy nature of the pitch meant he slid when through on goal, keeping the score level.

Police would instead be the ones to take full advantage of KCB’s slip early on when Duncan Otieno unleashed a ferocious shot into the back of Farouk Shikalo’s net to put the hosts into the lead.

There was a heart-stopping moment when Kevin Okumu placed his studs on Duncan Otieno’s head after he had attempted to win the ball back from him with a sliding tackle, with the wet nature of the pitch making it easier to, but he escaped unharmed.

Television replays appeared to show that Okumu intentionally stepped on Otieno’s head, which should have seen him sent off.

KCB got a good chance to restore parity in the 34th minute when Hanif Wesonga headed Atariza Mungai’s left-footed freekick just wide of the post, leaving Police to take the lead into the break.

Shortly after the break, Tito Okello should have made it two for the hosts when he attempted an overhead kick from a well-delivered cross by David Okoth, forcing KCB into making a frantic save.

Derrick Otanga had another glorious chance to restore parity in the 71st minute when he received the ball to feet inside the box before attempting to lob Patrick Matasi, forcing Musa Mohammed into clearing the ball away to safety.

In the end, the goal would be enough to get the Law Enforcers all three points. They now sit second on 45 points, nine behind leaders Gor Mahia.
