KCB defeated Shabana in the FKF Premier League match, climbing the standings, with both teams displaying solid efforts throughout the game.

KCB FC got back to winning ways in the FKF Premier League after recording a 3-2 win over Shabana at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Friday afternoon.

The victory moved the Bankers up to the ninth spot in the league standings, while the Glamour Boys remained in 17th place on the table and in dire straits.

KCB dominated possession from the start with experienced Brian Ochieng' pulling the strings from the middle of the park for the hosts.

However, Bernard Mwalala 's charges could not penetrate the Shabana defense as it looked solid and compact.

Tore Bobe grew in confidence as the match progressed with Peter Ongechi looking lively and making good runs from midfield.

However, it was KCB who broke the deadlock in the 12th minute, as Derrick Otanga got his name on the scoresheet from the spot.

Shabana tried to find their way back into the match and came close to finding the equalizer on the half-hour mark, but Vincent Nyabuto's long-range effort sailed inches over the target.

Two minutes from halftime KCB doubled their lead courtesy of Philemon Nyakwaka who easily beat Shabana goalkeeper Mustapha Oduor.

The half ended 2-0 in favor of the hosts.

With both sides returning from the interval refreshed, Shabana seemed to be more organised, and due to the deficit, they were forced to come out of their shell.

This saw coach Sammy Omolo make the first move as he threw on former KCB striker Enock Agwanda five minutes after the break.

The change did little to impact the game, and just before the hour mark, it was Hannif Wesonga who nearly doubled the Bankers but his shot went over the crossbar.

With KCB throwing caution to the win this left them vulnerable at the back and Omwando had a chance to build on his goals this season, but he fluffed his effort from point-blank range.

However, Otanga managed to score his second goal at the hour mark and the third for the Bankers at the half-hour mark.

Despite Shabana's efforts, they managed to pull one back through Brian Magire, scoring after failing to find the back of the net in their last five matches.

The momentum was with KCB in the closing stages as they hoped to take advantage of Shabana's defensive lapses.

Shabana, in desperate need of points, were forced to push forward and found their second goal in the closing stages of the match, which was an own goal by Farouk Shikhalo from Enock Agwanda's long throw.
