Former Match of the Day pundit Mark Lawrenson believes Martin Ødegaard should no longer be the captain of Arsenal.
Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium against Paris Saint-Germain. Ousmane Dembélé scored in the early stages of the match, securing a significant away victory for the French team against Mikel Arteta's side.
Ødegaard had a difficult time impacting the match and failed to create chances in the attacking phase of the game.
The midfielder only completed 20 of his 27 attempted passes, his fewest in any game this season.

I would take him — Odegaard wants Arsenal to sign 'best player in the world'
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has revealed the one player he would love to have at the Emirates.
Odegaard's poor performance criticised
Following Arsenal's disappointing Champions League semi-final first leg loss to Paris Saint-Germain, the former Liverpool defender strongly criticised Odegaard's poor performance.
According to the Sun, he said, "The captain's armband should be taken away from Odegaard so he can get back to focusing on his performances. We all know that he's a good player, but he's just had a six out of 10 season."
Despite being a vital leader for Arteta and Arsenal's captain since 2022 at age 25, Lawrenson thinks Odegaard is not the best captaincy choice within the team.
He added: "If you gave Declan Rice the armband instead, you imagine that it wouldn't affect his performances, especially considering he was captain at West Ham. I'd give it to Rice so Ødegaard can focus on improving his performances."
Over his last eight appearances, Odegaard has only provided one assist, which has had a major effect on Arsenal’s performance
Arsenal faces a significant challenge in the return leg in Paris next Wednesday and requires a major comeback to continue their European campaign.
