A tense FKF Premier League match at Bukhungu Stadium saw Kakamega Homeboyz and Bandari create numerous chances.

Kakamega Homeboyz and Bandari drew 0-0 in an FKF Premier League match staged at the Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The draw kept Abana Abeingo in sixth place on the log, while Bandari ascended to potentially enjoy a temporary stay in second place in the league standings.

The match got off to a slow pace, but it was the Dockers, who threatened first through their pacey winger Hassan Abdallah ten minutes into the game.

Francis Omondi created the first opportunity for Kakamega Homeboyz with a brilliant long diagonal down the left to release Davis Kasirye, whose first touch could have been better but he struck the volley well nevertheless and it grazed the top of the crossbar.

Bandari began knocking the ball around crisply and soon after Fidel Origa lifted the ball over the top for the run of Hassan, who took it down and let the ball bounce before his powerful volley was tipped over the bar by Homeboyz goalkeeper James Ssetuba.

The impressive Moses Mudavadi once again threatened. The ball was played to the feet of Ambrose Sifuna, who laid it into the captain's path for a good first touch that took him clear on goal but his shot was straight at the keeper.

The game continued with a high intensity and Bandari had to make a change at half an hour mark after Chacha Swaleh got injured and he was replaced by Atariza Meja.

A free-kick was delivered from the left to the back post with Brian Wekesa heading the ball back across the goal. It came to William Wadri, who flicked on for Umaru Kasumba, whose close-range effort was well saved by the legs of Ssetuba, while Michael Opundo's classy effort towards the top right corner was also saved.

Homeboyz then contained Bandari until the first-half came to an end and the score was 0-0 at the interval.

Homeboyz coach Patrick Odhiambo made a change at the beginning of the second-half with Moses Shummah coming in for Davis Kasirye.

Five minutes in, Shummah combined well with Otieno and delivered to the near post but Kevin Amwayi could not glance his header enough to get it on target.

Soon after Brian Wekesa was dispossessed on his own byline by Atariza Meja, who squared to Wadri at the back post, and his low effort was repelled by the legs of Enock Masinza.

Homeboyz then threatened after a corner was headed out and delivered back to the back post for an unmarked Wekesa, who was about to pull the trigger when he was denied by a last-ditch interception from Bandari defender Andrew Juma.

Aabana Abeingo were awarded a penalty in the 74th minute after Ambrose Sifuna was brought down in the penalty box but Bandari goalkeeper Joseph Ochuka made a save.

A glorious opportunity went begging for the Dockers. Wadri showed a clean pair of heels to his marker before squaring it for James Kinyajui, who failed to get it out of his feet allowing Brian Chala to come across and make the block.

As the referee blew his full-time whistle, the Dockers would have been wondering how they did not manage to come away with all three points despite completely dominating the encounter.

Here's how they lined up:

Kakamega Homeboyz: James Ssetuba, Brian Wekesa, Enock Masinza, Brian Chala,  Francis Omondi, Esiye Estone, Sifuna Ambrose, Hillary Otieno, Davies Kasiyre, Moses Mudavadi, Kevin Amwayi
