Majak, 18, lost his own mother earlier in the week but still played in and scored the only goal as Kakamega Homeboyz downed Tusker 1-0 on Saturday.

Kakamega Homeboyz sent midfielder Oliver Majak a message of support after shining and scoring against Tusker FC despite losing his mother earlier in the week.

Majak's precise header from John Omondi's cross in the 12th minute sent Homeboyz fans into raptures, and it turned out to be enough as the defending FKF Cup champions managed to reach the quarter-finals.

Homeboyz is in full praise of Majak for showing a lot of sheer determination and character despite going through a horrible situation.

“An act of strong character has been you throughout the week. Losing a parent is one of the hardest experiences in one's life,” the club posted on its social media pages.

“Today's (Saturday, March 30) win was for you, and coincidentally, you did it in a special way in honoring your late Mum with your first ever top-flight goal.”

“We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to you and your family following the demise of your mother early this week. Together with you throughout this difficult moment, Majak. May Mum's soul rest well.”

Majak signed for the club last January before making his top-flight debut against KCB, a match Homeboyz won 2-1 at the Police Sacco Stadium, with the 18-year-old assisting twice.

He has gone on to make six more match involvements, where he has formed a solid partnership with Hilary Otieno and another league debutant, Glen Otunga, that has seen them inspire the Kakamega-based outfit to four wins.

Two have been in the FKF Premier League in KCB, Ulinzi Stars fixtures, and in the FKF Cup against Soilan City and then the Brewers, while the other two ended in a scoreless and one-all draw, respectively, in AFC Leopards and FC Talanta encounters.

He has matured game by game and was even called up to the Rising Stars U-20 squad for the Malawi Four Nations tournament where the side fell short to the hosts in the final.

We at Pulse Sports send his family our sincere condolences during this difficult time.
