Sports CS Ababu Namwamba has provided updates on the rennovation works of stadia amidst a lack of adequate facilities for use.
Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Ababu Namwamba, has reassured the public of the government's commitment to completing stalled projects and initiating new ones in a timely manner.
As preparations for hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations gain momentum, Kenya, alongside Uganda and Tanzania, is embarking on a race to renovate key stadiums across the country.
Namwamba affirmed that the Ministry of Sports is diligently renovating various projects in line with the comprehensive master plan in place.

Sports Kenya wants a number of assurances from AFC Leopards before opening the doors of Nyayo Stadium for them again even if Ingwe settle their huge fine.
He highlighted the significance of initiatives like the ongoing renovation of Masinde Muliro Stadium in Kanduyi, Bungoma County, as part of the transformative Sports and Creatives Infrastructure Masterplan.
"The Masterplan covers international stadia like the ultra-modern 60,000-capacity Talanta Sports City currently under construction and the planned Shanzu Stadium in Mombasa," Namwamba elaborated.
He further outlined the scope of the master plan, which encompasses regional stadia projects such as those in Bungoma, Bukhungu, Ruring'u in Nyeri, and Moi Stadium Embu, alongside future developments in various parts of the country.
In addition to major stadium renovations and constructions, Namwamba emphasized the importance of community sports facilities, including sports academies and athletics training centers. He reiterated the government's commitment to establishing 48 athletics training centers nationwide to nurture Kenya's rich talent pool.

"We will also complete all stalled projects we inherited, even as we continue the upgrade of old stadia like Nyayo, Kasarani, and Kipchoge Keino Eldoret," Namwamba affirmed.
