Gor Mahia faces a tough match against Bandari with three key players missing, testing the team's depth and resilience in the league.

Gor Mahia are gearing up for what promises to be a riveting encounter against Bandari FC on Saturday afternoon, as two of the FKF Premier League's form teams go head-to-head.

The match, set to unfold at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa, comes on the heels of K'Ogalo's emphatic 4-0 victory over Posta Rangers last weekend—a significant morale booster following their unexpected exit from the FKF Cup at the hands of Denmak FC.

Despite their commanding position at the top of the league standings with 50 points, featuring 14 wins, 8 draws, and a solitary loss, Gor Mahia faces a challenging situation with the absence of key players.

K'Ogalo head coach Jonathan McKinstry confirmed that experienced striker Emery Bayisenge, alongside John Macharia and Patrick Kaddu, will not be part of the squad for Saturday’s crucial match.

Bayisenge, a stalwart in the Gor Mahia lineup, was substituted at half-time in the match against Denmak due to a quad muscle injury, an issue that also saw him sidelined for the clash with Posta Rangers.

"Emery tweaked his quad muscle in the game in Ukunda against Denmak in the Cup. That's just one that's going to take a couple of weeks," McKinstry elucidated.

The squad's depth will be further tested with the absence of John Macharia and Patrick Kaddu. Macharia has been battling illness, which has impeded his ability to train and play.

"Macharia has had a bit of illness this week...he hasn't really recovered. He's on medication so unfortunately he's not able to train or play at the moment because of that," the coach revealed.

On the other hand, Kaddu is in the latter stages of rehabilitation from a long-term hamstring injury, working diligently towards making a return to full fitness.

Despite these setbacks, McKinstry remains optimistic about his team's prospects against Bandari. He highlighted the depth of the squad as a crucial factor that could help navigate through the absence of key players.

"We've got good depth in the squad. Those guys aren't available for us, but, you know, we're happy with the guys who will travel over to Mombasa," he stated confidently.

Gor Mahia's resilience and adaptability will be put to the test in Mombasa, where they seek to maintain their lead at the summit of the FKF Premier League.
