Renowned radio personality Joseph Ogidi, popularly known as Gidi Gidi, has officially entered the race for Secretary General in Gor Mahia’s upcoming elections, slated for April 13, 2025.

The Ubwogable hitmaker and co-host of the popular Patanisho show with former Harambee Stars coach Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee on Radio Jambo is seeking to make a mark beyond the airwaves.

Ogidi is eying the helm of Kenya’s most successful football club.

A lifelong supporter of the FKF Premier League champions, Gidi is no stranger to the Gor Mahia faithful.

His passionate support, often expressed in his signature green Gor Mahia attire, and his vocal views on the club’s management have made headlines over the years.

In 2023, he notably called on the club to institute annual visits to Kanyamwa in Nyanza, a region he described as having spiritual significance for the club, underlining his deep connection to Gor Mahia’s heritage.

Now, the Radio presenter wants to move from the terraces to the boardroom of the 21-time FKF Premier League champions.

“I am honored to present my candidacy for the role of Secretary General of our beloved club. As a lifelong supporter and active contributor to our football community, I believe it is time to serve Gor Mahia in a more structured and impactful way,” he declared.

The Secretary General seat is one of the most hotly contested positions in the upcoming elections.

Gidi will face stiff competition from incumbent Samuel Ocholla and Nick Arum, who are seeking a second term.

Despite the challenge, Gidi is confident in his vision for the club’s future as he aims to professionalize the administrative, organizational, and logistical functions of the club.

Gidi’s agenda revolves around transparency, youth development, and member engagement.

“I will streamline club operations to improve responsiveness, documentation and communication between members, players and management,” he said as quoted by Citizen Digital.

One of his flagship proposals is a nationwide grassroots program to identify and nurture young talent.

By tapping into Kenya’s rich pool of footballing potential, Gidi believes Gor Mahia can build a sustainable future and remain dominant on the pitch.

Gidi also sees an opportunity in Gor Mahia’s massive fan base as he plans to create inclusive platforms for dialogue and decision-making among members.

“I want to create platforms for all voices to be heard — because every member deserves a say in the club’s future," he noted.
