Sofapaka's coach maintains a positive stance despite a heavy defeat to FC Talanta

Sofapaka FC head coach Ezekiel Akwana has turned the page on their recent 3-0 defeat to FC Talanta choosing to see the match not as a setback but as a crucial learning opportunity in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League.

In what was a surprising twist of events, FC Talanta, led by coach Ken Kenyatta, soared to a notable victory over the 2009 league champions, with a performance that Akwana acknowledges as a lesson rather than a loss.

The match, which took place on Saturday saw Talanta break the deadlock in the 56th minute with Augustine Kuta finding the net.

The lead was doubled by Danson Kago, an adept forward with a history at Posta Rangers and Tusker, who scored in the 83rd minute.

It was Kevinton Machika, however, who put the game beyond doubt with a third strike in the 90th minute, earning him the man of the match title for his overall performance.

"A league is a marathon, and it's impossible to win it without facing some defeats. We didn't lose the game; I consider it a learning experience. We will head into training and work hard ahead of the next match," he said.

His counterpart, Kenyatta, underscored the importance of the win for FC Talanta, which had only enjoyed two victories prior to this match.

"Winning was crucial for us because we had only won two matches prior to this. It's a positive boost for the team as we prepare for the next game, and we'll see if we can secure another victory," the gaffer said.

Looking ahead, Akwana's sights are set on finishing the first leg of the season on a high note, with victories in each of the upcoming fixtures being the clear objective.

The road ahead for Sofapaka is a challenging one, with a match against the formidable Kakamega Homeboyz looming on the horizon.

Talanta, buoyed by their recent success, will turn their attention to a pivotal clash with Muhoroni Youth.
