Arsenal have been advised to ignore Ivan Toney in favour of the Netherland-based striker considered the second-best finisher in the world.

A Dutch football legend Ruud Gullit has reportedly advised Arsenal to drop their interest in Brentford striker Ivan Toney in favour of an Eredivisie star regarded as the second-best finisher in the world.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Toney, who is set to return to action following his ban for gambling.

Arsenal and Toney

Mikel Arteta is said to be in the market for a striker, with the Arsenal manager looking to use the January market to solve his team’s woes.

The Gunners suffered a 1-0 defeat at Villa Park to Aston Villa, where their striker problem came up against former manager, Unai Emery.

Arsenal are said to have identified Toney, who is serving a ban for breaching FA Betting rules, expected to return to Premier League football early next year.

However, the Gunners have now been told to ignore their pursuit of Brentford for Santiago Gimenez, the Feyenoord superstar.

With Toney, despite his ban, expected to be valued at 80 million pounds or more by his club, Netherlands legend, Gullit, 61, believes Gimenez, will prove to be a better business for Arteta and his league leaders.

“I think Santiago Gimenez would be a good fit for Arsenal as Feyenoord play similar football," he said per a report from the Mirror. "He’d be used to that, and it’d be easier for him to fit in."

Speaking further, Gullit added that the 22-year-old Mexican will fit Arsenal more than his former club, Chelsea, who are also in the market for a striker.

“Chelsea are searching for identity at the moment, and Gimenez would be arriving into a struggling team,” he added. “I’d rather go to a team that knows exactly what they have to do. Of course, I hope he’s the guy to give Chelsea what they need. I don’t know what Chelsea are at the moment!"

Gimenez rated second best finisher

Meanwhile, should Arsenal go for the Feyenoord, they would be signing a player considered the second most lethal forward in the world.

As reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria, only Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane is a better finisher in the world than the Feyenoord man.

This season, the Mexican striker has scored 20 goals in 19 matches for his Dutch side Feyenoord.

Per the Pulse Sports report, his goals have come on an average of 1.4 goals per game and a 33% conversion rate, which is only bettered by Kane.
