Rising Stars will be facing Tunisia at 6:00 PM in a clash the have to win to boost their hopes of qualifying for the quater finals of the ongoing U20 AFCON.

Rising Stars Vice Captain Baron Ochieng has promised Kenyan fans the side will leave no stone unturned in their efforts to get a positive result in their second U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 clash on Sunday afternoon.

Stars will take on Tunisia, from 6pm (East African Time) seeking to breath life into their hopes of qualifying to the knockout stages of the tournament.

Kenya launched her campaign with a narrow 3-2 loss to Morocco on Thursday, 1 May, with their matchday opponents falling 1-0 to Nigeria in their opener.

With Tunisia's clash potentially making or breaking Kenya's hopes of reaching the next phase of the tournament, Ochieng says the only available option for his boys is winning the match.

The Sofapaka right back  revealed that the technical bench had spent considerable time to fine-tune the tactics and reminding him alongside his fellow teammates that the match will either make or break their resolve to reach the knockout stage.

“We have been training and we know where our problems lied. We have made changes and hopefully, we are going to give it our best,” Ochieng told FKF Media.

Heading to the match, which will later pave way for the encounter between Morocco and Nigeria, Ochieng’ says the errors that cost the team three points on Thursday have been rectified.

“We are going with the mentality to win. We need the three points. We have to have that persecutor mentality to do it.”

The ambidextrous player who has often wowed Kenyans with his energetic displays was deployed as a left back for the closing moments of the game following the withdrawal of Collins Ochieng.

Although he had some good moments, he also had to endure shaky ones, as he gave away a penalty that was thankfully saved by keeper Bernard Jairo.

Asked about how the experience of marking Montpellier winger Othmane Maamma was, Ochieng explained how his willingness to put the team first given the coach needed his skillsets to try and nullify the Montpelier winger’s threat enabled him to do well.

“I am a utility player. If the coach felt my skills were needed there, I am flexible enough to adapt. It is all about the team. I had to switch and everything was okay. I was comfortable.”

Meanwhile, Ochieng has asked the fans to keep supporting them through thick and thin.

“The fans need to support us through thick and thin. They need to support us and they need to see us victorious. We need to deliver and give them all the three points.”

With Morocco and Nigeria set to face off later in the evening, a win for Kenya would significantly boost their chances of staying in the tournament. And according to Ochieng, the team is ready to rise to the occasion.
