Azam FC to re-sign Fiston Mayele from Pyramids FC after his struggle in Egypt Premier League.

Tanzania Premier League side Azam FC is reportedly making a groundbreaking move to re-sign Congolese striker Fiston Mayele from Egyptian giants Pyramids FC.

In what is considered one of the most audacious attempts in recent times, Azam FC has extended an offer of US$15,000 per month (approximately Ksh 2.1 million) to secure the services of the prolific forward.

Sources close to the player reveal that Mayele has expressed his desire to return to the Tanzanian league by submitting a transfer request to Pyramids FC.

Fiston Mayele, who previously dazzled fans with his performances for Yanga SC—a fierce rival of Azam—joined Pyramids FC last year.

His move came after a stellar season where he was crowned the top scorer in the Tanzanian league and made significant contributions in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Despite his proven track record, Mayele has found it challenging to replicate his goal-scoring form in Egypt, which has sparked rumors of his eagerness to return to Tanzania for the upcoming season.

During his tenure with Yanga SC, Mayele became a household name in Tanzanian football.

In his first season, he nearly clinched the Golden Boot, scoring 16 goals and finishing just one goal behind the top scorer.

The following season, he elevated his performance by netting 17 goals, sharing the top scorer accolade with Saido Ntibazonkiza of Simba SC.

His contributions were not limited to domestic competitions; Mayele shone brightly on the continental stage as well.

He played a pivotal role in Yanga's journey in the CAF Confederation Cup, scoring 14 goals across the Champions League and Confederation Cup, showcasing his remarkable talent and goal-scoring prowess.

Mayele's impact at Yanga was profound, leading the team to two consecutive Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and two Community Shield victories.

His exceptional form in the 2022/2023 season helped Yanga reach the CAF Confederation Cup final for the first time in their history, where he finished as the tournament's top scorer with seven goals.
