FKFPL Aussems' makes known his preference between Gor Mahia and ‘enemy’ Matano's Tusker

The Belgian tactician did not hide his desire to see K’Ogalo pip the brewers to the league crown despite handing the defending champions an advantage

AFC Leopards coach Patrick Aussems’ beef with his Tusker FC counterpart Robert Matano seems far from over after the Belgian tactician revealed his desire to see Gor Mahia win this season’s Football Kenya Federation Premier League title at the expense of the brewers.

Aussems saw his side end their seven-year winless run against Gor Mahia, handing them a 2-1 defeat on Sunday, to give Tusker the advantage in the title race as the brewers are now one point head of Gor with four matches remaining.

However, mindful of the bad blood that exists between him and Matano, Aussems said he would rather K’Ogalo won the title.

“I don’t know what will happen but I just wish that Gor Mahia will win next game and take this,” Aussems told Azam TV after the match.

Aussems is the subject of a legal battle with Matano after the Tusker coach sued him for calling him a ‘juju man’ following their touchline spat when the two teams met in a league match on April 5.

The ‘Lion’ threatened to take legal action and lived up to his word, sending Aussems a demand letter through his legal representatives, demanding a written apology from the Belgian, failure to which he would institute full legal proceedings against him.

Aussems failed to apologise within the stipulated three days, setting the stage for potential legal battle. Tusker take on Gor Mahia in their next league match on May 28 where victory will see them open up a four-point lead over K’Ogalo with three matches remaining.

With the rivalry that exists between Gor and Leopards, the Ingwe coach’s sentiments might not go down well with the supporters given they see Matano as ‘one of them’ as the Tusker coach is a life member of the club, having previously handled the side and also played for them.
