Aston Villa will aim to seal a Champions League spot on Monday night and they will be given hopes by Liverpool's recent indifferent form.

Aston Villa will host Liverpool on Monday night as they try to replace their agony with jubilation following their midweek defeat to Olympiacos that saw them eliminated from the UEFA Conference League.

Aston villa would have already secured and cemented their Champions league spot for next season had it not been for Brighton, who defeated them 1-0 on May 5. Their top four hopes currently hang on a narrow one point lead over Tottenham.

Home advantage for Villa will play a part in this game as they are unbeaten in their last four league games at Villa Park. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be looking to put a dent on Villa's European hopes given he has beaten them in nine of his 11 meetings with Unai Emery's side.

The Merseyside team, however, have had a very impressive run towards the end of the season in recent years. They have been utterly dominant as they have gone unbeaten in the month of May for six years now.

If Villa lose, this will be their first back-to-back home defeat this season, and it would be an extension of the amazing record Liverpool have against them being 16 Premier League away wins against them.

Although Liverpool have already come short on all the possible title races this season, Klopp will be looking to maintain good performances as he his time at the club comes to an end.

A lot will be at stake in this match for Villa as their top striker, Ollie Watkins is just one goal way from becoming the first player since Peter Withe in 1980/81 season, to score 20 plus goals in the top flight.
