Lyles Reacts to Host City News

After a triumphant season that saw him win gold in the men’s 200m at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, Lyles has been enjoying some well-deserved downtime. He was recently spotted at New York Comic Con, making an appearance at the Crunchyroll booth.

The 2026 LoL World Championship will take place in Allen, Texas, and New York City. Upon hearing the news, Lyles took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his enthusiastic reaction, posting: "WE ARE SOOO BACK!!"

Lyles will undoubtedly be cheering for 100 Thieves to make a deep run in the 2026 tournament. The team was eliminated in the knockout stage of the 2023 Worlds by T1 in a 0–2 series loss.

A Passion Beyond the Track

Lyles' interests extend far beyond athletics. He is a vocal fan of anime and gaming, particularly franchises like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Dragon Ball Z. Last year, his passions collided when he received a custom Yu-Gi-Oh! keyboard through a collaboration between his sponsor, Adidas, and 100 Thieves.

He has often incorporated his love for anime into his professional life. At the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Lyles celebrated with poses inspired by Dragon Ball. In an interview with Athleta Mag before the event, he hinted at more projects that would merge his athletic and personal interests.

"Since I’ve started doing walk-ins, adidas has been very supportive and have given me access to many of their shoulder brands and collaborations to keep these events closer to my brand," Lyles explained.

"Our anime project from the 2020 Olympics also tapped into a big interest of mine, and we will do that again at the World Championships in Tokyo... We are working on some other very exciting projects at the moment."

True to his word, Lyles later launched a special anime-inspired apparel line with Crunchyroll and Adidas around the time of the Tokyo championships, further cementing his status as a pop culture icon in the world of sports.
