Wanyonyi will once again return to the ring on July 22 for a non- title fight against the Tanzanian boxer.

Karim "Mtu Kazi" Mandonga’s super middleweight rematch with Daniel Wanyonyi has been confirmed at the Sarit Expo Centre on July 22.

Wanyonyi will seek revenge after the Tanzanian floored him in January during their non-title at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.

A rematch between the pair was expected to occur on March 18, but discussions between the duo and Wanyonyi changed the coaching setup, led to the postponement.

Ultra Fight Series promotions have now confirmed the much-anticipated Mtu Kazi will be back in Nairobi next month.

“The bout slated for July 22 2023, will feature fighters from Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya and will be held at Sarit Expo Center, Nairobi, Kenya,” reads part of the statement.

Mandonga made headlines when he floored Wanyonyi in the fifth round of the show after the former Africa Boxing Union (ABU) champion declined to get back to the ring for the next round handing Mandonga victory.

Before the match, Mandonga had warned Wanyonyi of a beating in a fight that would last ten rounds.

“Ukatae unapigwa, unakubali unapigwa tu (You like it or not you will be beaten),” he warned.

The match against Wanyonyi was Mandonga’s first bout outside Tanzania.

The boxer returned to Kenya in March, beating Uganda’s Kenneth Lukyamuzi in a split decision to claim the Pugilistic Syndicate of Tanzania (PST) light heavyweight title.

Wanyonyi, who runs a clothing business at Gikomba Market, has an impressive record of 27-14-2, 22 KOs against Mandonga’s nine bouts, five wins, three losses, and one draw.
