Mary Moraa, Reynold Cheruyot & Abraham Kibiwott stroll to victory at Kip Keino Classic

Moraa and Kibiwot dominated the 800, 1500 and 3000m steeplechase races respectively.

Mary Moraa left fans in ecstasy as she strolled her way to victory in the 800m of the 2024 Absa Kip Keino Classic staged at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday.

Moraa stayed within the pack before taking the lead with 150 meters to go, before coasting her way to victory in a time of 1.57.96.

She led an all-Kenyan podium swoop, with Nelly Chepchirchir and Vivian Cherotich coming second and third respectively in 1.58.26 and 1.58.93 respectively.

Abraham Kibiwot also led a podium swoop in a time of 8.20.54, leading fellow compatriots Amos Serem, Mathew Kosgei, and Wesley Langat respectively.'

After an impressive race, Moraa took a moment to share her thoughts on the experience and her preparations for the upcoming Paris Olympics. The atmosphere of the event left a lasting impression on her, as she expressed her gratitude towards the fans for their overwhelming support.

"The atmosphere was great, and I want to thank the fans for turning up in large numbers," Moraa remarked, acknowledging the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd that contributed to the vibrant ambiance of the race.

Reflecting on her performance, Moraa expressed satisfaction with her race and viewed it as valuable preparation for the Paris Olympics. "It was a good race and a good preparation for the Paris Olympics," she said, highlighting the significance of this early-season competition in her training regimen.

In the 1500m, Reynold Cheruiyot won the 1500m in a time of 3.31.96, leading another podium swoop dominated by Kenyans, with Brian Komen and Daniel Munguti occupying the second and third places respectively.
