Two-time World 200m champion Shericka Jackson has finally been awarded an honorary Doctorate of Law Honoris Causa by the University of Technology (UTECH) at their graduation ceremony on Saturday.
The World 100m silver medallist is among the three outstanding Jamaicans to be awarded by UTech during its 2023 Graduation Ceremony at its Papine Campus.

The MVP Track Club president and co-founder Bruce James believes Shericka Jackson has a chance to win the Women’s World Athlete of the Year.
The others were the Governor of the Bank of Jamaica, Richard Byles, and ICT and Engineering Process Control expert, Dr Patrick Dallas.
Jackson was awarded the honorary doctorate due to her dominant exploits of 2023 that saw her defend her 200m world title and finishing second in the 100m at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

She also bagged double gold (100m and 200m) at the Prefontaine Classic, the final Diamond League Meeting of 2023.
She is also the second-fastest woman of all time over 200m. She achieved the honours after clocking 21.41 to clock a championship record in the Hungarian capital.
She also produced times of 21.48 at the Brussels Diamond League Meeting, and 21.57 at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Final. The Jamaican also produced a personal best time of 10.65, a world-leading time, to dominate the Jamaican Championships in July.
