Noah Lyles and partner Junelle Bromfield take a life-changing step together, uniting faith and love in a powerful declaration.

U.S. track and field star Noah Lyles and Jamaican athlete Junelle Bromfield have added a new chapter to their relationship — one rooted in faith.

Fresh from his stellar performance at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Lyles, alongside his fiancée, was baptized on Sunday, September 28, publicly declaring his commitment to God.

The couple, who train, compete, and live together, announced their baptism on Instagram with Joshua 24:15: “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

The decision was not simply a ceremonial gesture but a deeply personal step of faith for Bromfield, who explained why she waited until now to be baptized.

“Noah has always been a Christian and he has baptised before. I never been baptized before today because I wanted to do it when I was ready and not out of fear. Many times I have gone to the altar but never committed because I felt like I was doing it for the wrong reasons,” Bromfield told The Gleaner.

The pair said they have been intentional about centering their relationship on spirituality.

“We have been going to church, praying, and trying to get closer to God because we wanted Him in the middle of our relationship," Bromfield added.

Their baptism came just a week after Lyles added more accolades to his name — securing his fourth 200m world title, a gold in the 4x100m relay, and a bronze in the 100m. Bromfield, a 4x400m medalist across the Olympics, World Indoors, and World Championships, did not compete this year but was present trackside to cheer on her fiancé.

A Spiritual Milestone After Athletic Triumphs

Despite his glittering career, Lyles has faced hurdles off the track. He endured an injury-disrupted start to the 2025 season before regaining form in time for the World Championships.

“He (God) has given so much to both of us,” Bromfield said.

“Before celebrating or going on vacation, we wanted to get baptized and surrender to God because He has blessed us generously.”

Bromfield also shared a moving testimony of how her faith shaped her from an early age. As a high school student struggling with finances, she once returned a wallet containing $4,000 even though she only had $50 for food.

“Since that day, so many people have made an impact on my life,” she said. Support from teachers, coaches, and even a bus driver helped her excel academically and athletically.

“And with everything I did leading up to where I am, I never needed because He (God) has always provided. That’s why I decided to not just accept Him verbally but to get baptized.”

Looking Ahead as a Faith-Driven Couple

The couple has kept the name of their church private but said this was only the beginning of their faith journey.

“I honestly don’t know. Hopefully apart from us growing closer to God both individually and together, we can also create healthy friendships with God-fearing people. This is Noah’s second baptism; he did it because he wanted us to go on this spiritual journey together.”

Lyles and Bromfield, who got engaged in 2024 after the Paris Olympics, plan to marry in 2026. By choosing baptism together, they have pledged not only their love for each other but their shared devotion to God — a step that may inspire fans beyond the track.
