Mary Moraa, Athing Mu, and Keely Hodgkinson are most regarded as the big three in the women's 800m but Jamaica's Natoya Goule believes she's also in the chat.

After her scintillating run to finish third in the women’s 800m at the Prefontaine Classic, Jamaica’s Natoya Goule-Toppin has made her intentions clear in matters regarding her rivalry against some of her foes.

Goule finished behind USA’s Athing Mu and Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson, and she clocked a national record time of 1:55.96.

During a post-race interview, she was asked about being in the big three category that includes Mary Moraa, Hodgkinson, and Mu, the Jamaican said that she had always been in the chat and she would have probably upset one of the three bigwigs.

However, she noted that she did not run the 800m well in Budapest and that’s what cost her a slot in the final.

“I have always been in the chat and I’ve never been out…it was just an unfortunate thing that happened at the Worlds. I’ve been in the top three the whole season and I know I’ve always been there.

I knew I would upset one of them at the World Championships but you know things happen,” she said.

She added the World Championships misfortune is now behind her and she has shifted her focus to the Olympic Games in 2024 where she will be hoping to bounce back.

Competing at the Hungarian Capital, she finished third in the semifinal to miss a chance in the final.

“I was in the shape to run well and win a medal but I did not run tactically and that’s why I lost,” she said.
