Ferdinand Omanyala and Letsile Tebogo will set up an exciting 100m battle after both confirmed their participation at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi.
Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala will be among the star attraction at the Kip Keino Classic slated for April 20 in Nairobi.
Omanyala had not made his commitment for the event but has now confirmed his participation which sets up an exciting battle in the 100m with Botswana sprint sensation Letsile Tebogo.
Tebogo confirmed his participation in the event early in the week and given his scintillating form, he is likely to give his rivals a run for their money.

Botswana's Letsile Tebogo will be aiming to break Omanyala's 100m African record at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi.
The 20-year-old will arrive in Nairobi on the back of impressive performances in 2024, having run a world lead 19.94 in 200m at the ASA Athletics Grand Prix in Johannesburg, South Africa as well as lowering his personal best in 400m by running 44.29 in Pretoria a fortnight ago.
Tebogo also shattered the 300m world record in February, clocking an astonishing 30.69 at the Simbine Curro Classic.
Omanyala therefore has his work cut out as he seeks to win a third straight Kip Keino Classic title.
The Commonwealth champion clocked 9.84 to win the 2023 Kip Keino classic, beating Americans Kenny Bednarek (9.98) and Marvin Bracy-Williams (10.03) to second and third positions respectively.
“The Champ is Here. We are excited to announce that Ferdinand Omanyala, a true powerhouse in athletics, will participate in the highly anticipated #AbsaKipkeinoClassic2024. Men's 100M is about to get litty,” Kip Keino Classic posted on social media.
Omanyala then responded: “We are on.”

Isaac Omurwa is wasting no time as he seeks to make history like his elder brother Ferdinand Omanyala.
With the Diamond League opener also on the same day in Xiamen, Omanyala will be among the star attractions at the event that will miss the likes of Sha’Carri Richardson and double world record holder Faith Kipyegon who are among those that have opted to feature in the Chinese city.
Omanyala holds the African record of 9.77 clocked at the 2021 Kip Keino Classic, when he finished second, and it is among the things he will be seeking to protect on home turf.
The 27-year-old has not participated outdoors this year after clocking 6.56 to settle for fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, coming after timing 6.52 and 6.51 in Miramas and Paris respectively, all in 60m.
