It is the latter that has left her fans marveling at the sacrifices she puts in to bring glory to her and the country.

After her training session on Thursday, Kipyegon dipped herself in ice as she sought to recover from an intense day on the road, with her fans giving varied views.

“Na hiyo baridi yote ya Kaptagat.... Enyewe being a World's Greatest isn't a joke [With all that cold on Kaptagat? For sure being the world's greatest isn't a joke],” said one fan before another added: “And she can even afford a smile.”

“Ice baths really hit after a hard session fr [for real],” commented another fan who knows the importance of ice baths.

“You were already cool,” another fan said before someone else added: “Not easy to be called champion.”

“Faith you're genius, this the only thing I am afraid of especially after training,” said another one who is not a fan of ice baths.

Ice baths are common recovery techniques for athletes as they help them after intense exercises by reducing muscle soreness, inflammation and fatigue.

They help in constricting blood vessels and decreasing blood flow to the muscles, reducing swelling and speeding up recovery time.

Kipyegon, who trains at the Global Sports Communication Training Camp in Kaptagat, is tuning up for the Xiamen Diamond League where she will run the 1,000m and is up against Jamaican Natoya Goule-Toppin, Ugandan Halimah Nakaayi and Ethiopian Tsige Duguma among others.
