Ethiopia's Tigst Assefa sprinted to victory in a thrilling battle at the 45th edition of the London Marathon on Sunday.
Assefa, known for her tactical approach to marathoning, delivered an impeccable performance, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:15:50 to claim the top spot and the women's-only record.
Her victory saw her overcome stiff competition from Kenya’s Joyciline Jepkosgei and Dutch superstar Sifan Hassan, who finished second and third with times of 2:18:43 and 2:18:59, respectively.
