Eilish McColgan is optimistic about her return to top form following a knee injury after completing pacing duties at the Asics Speed Race.

Four-time European Championships medallist Eilish McColgan is targeting the women's 10,000m at the upcoming Paris Olympics following a successful return to competition that saw her complete pacing duties at the Asics Speed Race.

The Commonwealth 10,000m champion, who has been on the mend from a knee injury that derailed her marathon debut plans last year, expressed her enthusiasm for competing in her preferred event once again, this time on the roads of Paris.

McColgan shared insights into her recovery and preparation for what could be her fourth Olympic Games.

"It was about getting used to running in super shoes again. It's been a year since I last raced, and there was a lot of hesitation coming back," she said as per Athletics Weekly.

Despite the challenges McColgan remains optimistic about her body's condition and her ability to compete at the highest level.

"I'm in a good place body-wise. There's still scar tissue, but it's not something that will disappear overnight. I always knew I could get back. Some of the doctors even said it would be a challenge, but I believe in myself," she added.

With her eyes firmly set on the Paris Olympics, McColgan is not taking her preparation lightly.

She revealed plans to head to altitude for her first training camp of the year, a crucial step in her quest for Olympic qualification.

"It's what I train for every day, that is the A goal, to be at my fourth Olympic Games. I have my qualifying times, but I have to show my form and fitness," she emphasized.

The Asics Festival of Running not only marked McColgan's return to form but also showcased some of the world's best athletes as they gear up for the Paris Olympics.

In the women's 10km race, Ethiopia's Likina Amebaw clinched victory with a personal best time of 29:56, narrowly edging out Kenya's Loice Chemnung.

The men's category saw Ethiopia's Jemal Yimer take the win in 27:43, demonstrating the depth of talent preparing for this summer's Games.

The event also served as a showcase for marathon contenders gearing up for the Paris Olympics including Canada's Cam Levins and the USA's Clayton Young.
