High school sprinter Christian Miller smashed the U20 American record on Saturday to emerge as a new threat to elite sprinters like Noah Lyles.

Looks like Noah Lyles, Fred Kerley, and other top sprinters have a new competitor snapping at their heels.

Christian Miller, a senior at Creekside High School in Florida, turned heads with a breathtaking performance on Saturday at the Pure Athletics Spring Invitational in Clermont, Florida.

The 17-year-old prodigy clocked an astonishing 9.93 seconds in the 100m dash, not only smashing his personal best but also setting a new American U20 record.

This remarkable feat eclipsed the previous U20 record of 9.97 seconds set by Trayvon Bromell back in June 2014.

Miller's time is currently one of the fastest globally this year, propelling him to No. 3 on the U20 all-time list, just behind Surinam's Issam Asinga and Botswana's Letsile Tebogo.

In a past interview, Miller expressed his exhilaration and forward-looking perspective.

"It's definitely a crazy feeling that almost two years ago I'd be watching all the college athletes and the professional. I just think, man, I just want to be out there running faster, even closer to their times," he shared with Citius Mag.

"And now I'm progressing closer and closer, and I can almost see how I think I'm going to keep performing before me. I just see myself getting closer and closer to them as I grow," he added.

This is not the first time Miller has stunned the track world.

In July 2023, he dominated the USA U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, clinching gold in both the 100m and 200m sprints and setting new personal bests.

His 10.06-second finish in the 100m at that event also established a new world under-18 record, showcasing his potential early in his career.

Miller's track record includes impressive performances even before his breakout at the national level.

In 2022, he won a silver medal in the 100m and a gold in the 200m at the FHSAA Outdoor State Finals in Gainesville, Florida.

He continued his winning streak by capturing the 200m gold at the New Balance Nationals in Philadelphia.
