Former world 100m champion Christian Coleman has revealed what would be his all-time 4x100m relay team by including legendary Usain Bolt, Maurice Green and his rival Noah Lyles.

Former world 100m champion Christian Coleman has revealed what would be his dream 4x100m relay team if he had an opportunity to choose whom to run with.

Coleman has selected Jamaican legend Usain Bolt, current world 100m champion and track rival Noah Lyles and former 100m world record holder Maurice Green in his all-time best team.

“As for 4x100m, I would start it off, I would go fast. I would put Bolt on second, I would give Maurice Green on third and I would let Noah bring it home,” Coleman said, referring to which order he would like the baton to be passed if his dream team was to compete at a major championship.

It shows just how highly the American rates bitter rival Lyles, who is currently the athlete to beat in 100m and 200m, as Bolt and Green were during their active times.

Green won Olympic gold in 100m at the Sydney Games in 2000, a year after setting the 100m world record at 9.79 seconds, and also claimed three world titles (1997, 1999, 2001) over the distance as well as the 200m (1999) and 4x100m (1999) relay gold at the worlds. Green also won the 1999 World Indoor title in 60m, making him one of the greatest sprinters of all time.

Meanwhile, Bolt is currently the world 100m (9.58 seconds) and 200m (19.19 seconds) world record holder following his heroics at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin and has three Olympic golds each in 100m and 200m which came from the 2008 Beijing, 2012 London and 2016 Rio Games besides a similar number of world titles in 100m and four in 200m.

Lyles had the better of Coleman in 2023 when he won 100m and 200m gold at last year’s World Championships and the two have renewed their rivalry again this year starting with the US Track and Field Indoor Championships last week where he finished first with his rival managing second place in 60m.

It will be the same at next month’s World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland as they gear up for a major showdown at the Paris 2024 Olympics between July and August.
