In the elite division, runners who often take part in ekiden and road races, including Alexander Mutiso will be racing.

Strong fields have been announced for the Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon scheduled for Saturday, October 14.

As reported by the organisers, this year's race will fall on the same day as the Marathon Grand Championship (MGC) organized by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF).

In the elite division, runners who often take part in ekiden and road races, including Alexander Mutiso, Benard Kimeli, Macharia Ndirangu, and Joseph Karanja will be racing.

Evans Kiptum and Jonathan Ndiku have also confirmed participation in the race. World-class athletes such as Charles Langat, who won the Barcelona Half Marathon earlier this year with a time of 58:53, will also be competing to try and break the record set by the winner of last year's race.

Among the Japanese competitors, Kenta Murayama, who was the top Japanese finisher last year in ninth place, will be the one to watch.

In the women’s field, Glady’s Chepkurui who set a course record of 1:05:46 at the Barcelona Half Marathon in February, has been invited to grace the event.

Challenging Chepkurui will be two runners, including Omare Dolphine and Hellen Ekalale, both belonging to Japanese industrial teams.

The MGC, which is being held at the same time, will show an intense competition for the marathon representation in the Paris Olympics.
