Mali vs Senegal (Friday, January 9)
Mali set up a West African classic after coming from behind to draw with Tunisia before winning on penalties to seal their quarter-final ticket while Senegal outclassed Sudan 3-1 to qualify.
Senegal are looking to return to winning ways since lifting the title in 2021 but Mali have been giant killers and will fancy their chances.
Cameroon vs Morocco (Friday, January 9)
Morocco have been termed favourites given they are playing at home but their 50-year wait for an AFCON title could go on if they do not improve against five-time African champions Cameroon.
Morocco laboured to break down Tanzania, winning 1-0, in the Last 16 and will find it hard against a clever Cameroon team that overpowered South Africa 2-1 and have scored in every game.
Algeria vs Nigeria (Saturday, January 10)
A clash that brings together two title favourites loaded with top talent, Algeria have gone one better than the last two AFCONs as they look to reclaim the title they won in 2019 while Nigeria, beaten finalists in 2023, are keen to right those wrongs.
Both teams know how to win the AFCON and will back themselves to advance to the semis after Algeria beat DR Congo 1-0 in extra-time while Nigeria blitzed past Mozambique, who they beat 4-0 in the Last 16.
Egypt vs Ivory Coast (Saturday, January 10)
Another classic, Egypt are record seven-time African champions although their last title came in 2010 and face a well-oiled machine that is Ivory Coast which is looking to emulate them by defending their crown.
The Egyptians initially struggled before beating Benin 3-1 in the knockout round but there were no such problems for Ivory Coast, who thrashed Burkina Faso 3-0 at the same stage.
Egypt have the quality and experience, with a number of their players featuring in AFCON finals in 2017 and 2021, which they both lost, but given what has been witnessed in the tournament so far, it will take something special to stop the Ivorians.
