Zech Obiero: Kenyan Star Bags Big Sponsorship Days After Tranmere Rovers Transfer
Harambee Stars prospect Zech Obiero has landed a major sponsorship deal which will boost him until the end of the season.
Obiero is still getting to grips with things at his new club Tranmere Rovers, having joined the League Two side from League One club Leyton Orient at the start of this month.
Just two weeks later, Obiero has landed a sponsorship deal with Africa Oye for the rest of the season. Africa Oye is an annual festival held annually in Sefton Park Liverpool and it is the largest celebration of live African music and culture in the UK.
Beginning in 1992 as a series of small gigs in the city centre, the event has gone from strength to strength, moving to its present Sefton Park home in 2002 to cope with demand.

“As a lifelong Rovers fan working for the biggest celebration of African music and culture in the UK, it’s a pleasure to be able to make this happen,” the organisation said of their sponsorship of Obiero.
“Africa Oye has a great history of past festivals in Birkenhead Park and today we carry on that presence with our partnership shows at the amazing Future Yard. We’re sure Zech will receive a warm welcome from the SWA and look forward to him helping Rovers climb the table in the second half of the season.”
It is a boost for the Kenya U20 star who made his debut for Tranmere Rovers last weekend, playing 71 minutes in an attacking midfield role, and was also named in the starting XI again as his new side took on Crawley Town on Saturday, making his home debut.
Rovers lost 2-1 to Gillingham last week and are looking to end a six-game losing run as they bid to climb up the table from their current 17th position on the 24-team log.
