As Kaizer Chiefs’ co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze continue to struggle for consistent results, a number of top coaches are also being linked to the job.

Chiefs opted to give Tunisian Ben Youssef and Burundian Kaze the job in a co-coaching capacity until the end of the season having been serving as assistants to veteran Nasreddine Nabi who left the club over unclear reasons in September.

However, they have just four wins in 14 matches since, with Chiefs dropping easy points, leading to calls to bring in a proven winner to lead the club.

One of those names is veteran South African tactician Pitso Mosimane, the highly successful former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach.

Mosimane Leaves Door Open for Chiefs

Mosimane has been touted as a potential appointment that can transform Amakhosi into a title-winning machine and the tactician has been asked if he would consider taking over the Glamour Boys.

“I have said it, I would never say never and I am a football coach, a professional coach. Why should I not coach Kaizer Chiefs, why should I not coach Orlando Pirates, why should I not coach Mamelodi Sundowns?” Mosimane said on Marawa Sports Worldwide, seemingly opening the door for Chiefs.

“You cannot put it on me…you can only put it on me once it [offer] is on the table. Then you can ask me are you accepting or not accepting? I do not want to talk about something that does not exist,” he added, telling Chiefs to make the move.

What Does Veteran Coach Look for in Jobs?

The five-time South Africa league winning coach, however, says he does not just take jobs for the sake of it as they must be projects that align with his beliefs, revealing that he has already turned down several offers.

“Every maybe 10 days, there is somebody who says do you want to come over here and coach? I can show you my phone but also, is it the right timing with other people, is it the right time to go there?” he posed.

“Champions League means a lot to me,” added the three-time CAF Champions League winner.
