Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi is attracting interest from Germany, with Werder Bremen said to be interested in his services, as he has been deemed surplus to requirements at Nottingham Forest.
Forest open to Awoniyi sale
The Super Eagles star joined Forest from Union Berlin for a club-record fee of around £17.5 million in the summer of 2022, signing a five-year deal.
He has largely struggled with injuries during his time at the club, with only 76 Premier League appearances to his name after three and a half years, scoring 17 league goals for the club to date.
Awoniyi’s time at Forest has been disrupted by a run of muscular and groin problems. Last May, he underwent urgent abdominal surgery after crashing into the woodwork.
His limited time on the pitch appears to have frustrated the Tricky, who have recently made Awoniyi available for sale, according to reports.
Werder Bremen's interested
According to Afrofoot, Werder Bremen have registered interest in a loan or permanent deal as they look for a proven centre-forward in addition to Victor Boniface.
Awoniyi has proven Bundesliga pedigree from his time at Union Berlin. He flourished there, notably netting 15 league goals in the 2021/22 campaign.
