We don't fear anybody — Alex Iwobi challenges Premier League clubs after Chukwueze's heroics
Alex Iwobi has laid down the gauntlet to other Premier League teams after Fulham secured a victory over high-flying, newly promoted side Sunderland.
Marco Silva's side beat the Black Cats 1-0 at Craven Cottage thanks to a late Raul Jimenez goal assisted by Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze. Iwobi sees the victory as a positive sign, indicating their strong form at home.
What Iwobi said
Fulham have struggled on the road this season, with all four of their wins this campaign coming at Craven Cottage. Iwobi chose to lean into the positive, lauding their solidity at home, especially against a tough Sunderland team.
“Our home form has been really good,” he said after the match, per Jack Kelly. “They’re a tough side and they’ve been doing really well, but we have the belief that we can perform against anyone
“We created so many chances today. It was almost one of those where you wonder if it will ever go on. Credit to the lads, we kept on believing and thank god one of them went in.
Iwobi insisted that they do not fear any team, trusting their pre-match preparation, as he refreshed the intentional tactical work they did to face Regis Le Bris’ side.
“We don’t fear anyone in the league. We give our respect to Sunderland. But now it’s all about consistency for us to go and get the results we need.
“In the week, we were working on different ways to break down Sunderland. It was working, but we couldn’t put the ball in the net. As long as we can keep clean sheets, then we’ll always create chances to score.”
