A Manchester City supporter has revealed the story behind a viral moment where he was seen drinking from an old Arsenal-branded water bottle during his team's 3-0 victory over Chelsea.

The fan, Tal Rehman, was captured on camera pulling out the bottle and taking a sip just as City secured their three-goal lead. The gesture was a playful jab at the popular "bottling it" narrative that has followed Arsenal during the tense Premier League title race.

Rehman explained that he had kept the bottle from a match against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium last season. "We sat close to the Arsenal bench, and my son and I asked for a drink," he recalled in an interview with Sky Sports.

"They passed us these bottles, and we brought them home. I never thought of it."

Viral Fan Defends Stunt

Known for his sense of humour, Rehman saw the perfect opportunity for a prank as City dominated the game against Chelsea. "I like being a prankster or a joker," he said. "When we went 3-0 up, I thought, 'Showtime, baby, showtime.' So out came the bottle, and there I am, unknown to me that it would go viral."

He emphasised that the act was all in good fun. "It's just banter, so people out there must understand that," Rehman stated. "I'm not a tribal fan; I'm a football fan. I respect the game, I respect the fans, I respect the rules, everything."

The moment has sparked a mixed reaction online. While many Arsenal supporters found the stunt to be "attention-seeking," warning it could backfire, City fans have largely celebrated the light-hearted taunt and praised Rehman's comedic timing.
