Top positions staring at Kitara as they visit Mbarara

Kitara FC will send a strong message as serious Uganda Premier League title contenders should they manage a victory over rivals Mbarara City FC on Wednesday.

The Royals visit the Ankole Lions at their almost unplayable Kakyeka Stadium pitch.

Victory for Kitara will momentarily move them second on the log with 25 points, one ahead of Vipers SC, who take on league leaders BUL FC on Friday at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende.

Every result that emerges out of Kitende will play into the hands of Kitara, should they happen to win against Mbarara.

Kitara comes into the game off the back of a crucial 1-0 victory over seven-time champions Express Football Club, thanks to a Paul Mucureezi header.

However, it will not be a walk in the park for the guests against a team that has suffered just one home defeat this season.

Mbarara's only loss at Kakyeka came in the first game of the season, as they were beaten 1-0 by NEC FC.

They have since drawn thrice and picked two victories, including a 2-1 win over 13-time league champions KCCA FC last time out.

Mbarara have conceded just two goals at home in six matches, while they've leaked in just seven overall so far this season.

The Wasswa Bbosa-coached side sit 12th on the 16-team log with 13 points in eleven games.
