Sevilla vs Getafe: Super Eagles trio left frustrated in LaLiga Monday night thriller

Nigeria’s Super Eagles trio of Christantus Uche, Chidera Ejuke, and Akor Adams were in action during Monday Night Football in LaLiga but came away frustrated as none found the back of the net in a pulsating encounter.

The highlight clash saw Uche’s Getafe face off against Adams’ Sevilla in a tense battle that ended 2-1 in favour of Getafe, extending their perfect start to the season. 

Both Uche and Adams played the full 90 minutes, with Getafe’s Adrian Liso stealing the spotlight by scoring a superb brace to secure the victory.

Despite featuring throughout, Uche struggled to influence the game decisively, missing a big chance and completing 55% of his passes, which hindered his impact for the visitors. 

Adams also missed a significant opportunity and was kept offside three times as Getafe secured the win a deserved away win.

Chidera Ejuke was another Super Eagles star on the pitch, featuring for 67 minutes but was also unable to create any clear chances or key passes, adding to the frustration for the Nigerian trio.

Though the Nigerians failed to score, the thrilling nature of the contest kept fans on the edge of their seats as the LaLiga season continues to deliver high drama. 

The trio will be eager to improve their performances and contribute goals and assists in upcoming fixtures, especially the duo of Uche and Akor, who made Eric Chelle’s provisional 31-man squad for the 2026 FIFA WCQ against Rwanda and South Africa slated for early next month in Nigeria and South Africa..
