Super Eagles midfielder dumps Nigeria for Ethiopian Coffee
In a surprising move, Super Eagles midfielder Divine Nwachukwu has left the Nigerian league to join Ethiopian Coffee SC, marking a significant step in his career.
This comes after the club in a post on Instagram revealed that he has signed a two-year contract with the Ethiopian club.
Nwachukwu also took to social media to announce the transfer with his fans and well-wishers.
In his statement, the midfielder expressed his excitement about the new opportunity:
"A new chapter begins! I am delighted to have signed with Ethiopian Coffee SC. Can't wait to get started and make a difference on the field. Thank you to everyone who's been with me along the way."
This move comes after Nwachukwu was among 13 players released by Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side Bendel Insurance earlier this month.
The talented midfielder's departure from Insurance was amicable, with the club posting a heartfelt farewell message on their social media platforms:
"From your first match to your last, you've always played with heart and passion, @Divineho17. Thank you for the great memories and your unwavering commitment to the club. We wish you nothing but success as you take on this new challenge! Keep shining!"
Nwachukwu's transfer to Ethiopian Coffee SC comes on the back of two impressive seasons with Bendel Insurance.
His standout performances did not go unnoticed, earning him a maiden call-up to the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, last year.
The midfielder's move to Ethiopia represents a new challenge in his career and an opportunity to showcase his talents in a different league.
Ethiopian Coffee SC, one of the most successful clubs in Ethiopian football history, will be hoping that Nwachukwu's arrival can boost their prospects in both domestic and continental competitions.
A new chapter begins! 💪🏾
