Super Eagles assistant coach returns to winning ways after Plateau heartbreak

Super Eagles assistant manager Daniel Ogunmodede and his Remo Stars squad have successfully moved on from their recent heavy defeat to Plateau United.

Remo Stars bounced back with a 1-0 victory over Bendel Insurance in Ikenne during week eight of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday.

After suffering a disappointing 3-1 loss against Plateau United in Jos, which followed a traumatic hostage situation in Libya, Ogunmodede was eager to get his team back on track.

Despite the setback, Remo Stars entered the match against Bendel Insurance sitting second on the league table with 15 points.

The Sky Blues found their rhythm again after 90 minutes of play, thanks to a first-half strike from Dela Akorli, which secured the crucial three points.

With this victory, Ogunmodede's side climbed to the top of the table with 18 points, just one point ahead of Rivers United, who are set to face Niger Tornadoes later on Monday.

Ogunmodede expressed relief and satisfaction following the win, emphasising that the team had learned from their previous defeat and was determined to maintain their competitive edge in the league.

The victory not only boosts their morale but also reinforces their position as serious contenders in the NPFL this season.

With tougher matches ahead, Ogunmodede will aim to build on this momentum and guide his team toward further success in the league.

Meanwhile, defending champions Enugu Rangers and their manager, Fidelis Ilechukwu, also an assistant Super Eagles coach, will be looking to follow in the footsteps of the Sky Blues.

Like Remo, the Flying Antelopes were at the end of a 4-3 defeat at home the last time to Kano Pillars, inspired by Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa.

On monday, the champions are visitors to Akwa United in Uyo and will be looking to put an end to a run of two consecutive defeats in the Football League.
