Spain vs Turkey preview, prediction, team news and head-to-head

Spain are almost guaranteed to seal automatic qualification for next year's World Cup in this clash against Turkey, and only a defeat of epic proportions will delay that outcome.

Spain have been impeccable in this World Cup qualifying series and barring a shocking collapse, they can treat this as a warm-up fixture.

Turkey is unlikely to offer much resistance, and anything other than a heavy defeat here should be viewed as a positive outcome.

Spain have recorded five wins from five games already in WCQ, and it is hard to believe they haven't rubber-stamped their ticket to next year's showpiece event in North America.

After downing Georgia 4-0 on the road on Saturday, Spain now have the chance to go through a full WCQ cycle without conceding a single goal for the first time in history. They need to lose by seven clear goals here, not to take top spot, and that is extremely unlikely.

Turkey have done pretty much everything they could have done to keep up with Spain, winning every Group E game aside from their defeat against Spain in the reverse.

That 6-0 defeat they suffered in that game is what has realistically consigned them to the play-off spot, and their chances of finishing as group winners are very unlikely.
