Some players don't — Graeme Souness weighs in on Osimhen's sensational Galatasaray move
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness praised Victor Osimhen's decision to join Galatasaray, describing it as a move that underscores the love shown by the club's fans.
What Souness said
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a four-year deal after Cim-Bom agreed to pay Napoli €75 million for his services.
He opted to join the Türkiye Super Lig champions amid interest from the Saudi Pro League and a late attempt from Napoli to keep him at the club.
While many have expressed shock or even criticised the move, Sounness understood it, stating that certain players value affection from fans.
“Some players value affection; some don't. Victor Osimhen had a great season and was loved. If being loved is important to you and you want to feel it, Galatasaray is the right place,” Souness said to Futboo.
“Osimhen is very lucky to have had this experience at such a young age. He could have done well elsewhere, but would he be this happy?
“The fans love him; he's on good terms with Okan Buruk; he knows the team. He's positive in every way.”
Micah Richards' shock
Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards was one of the football analysts who expressed surprise at Osimhen's choice.
As Pulse Sports reported, Richards expressed shock over Victor Osimhen's decision to sign for Galatasaray, stating that the Nigeria international was good enough to be a top-three striker in the Premier League
Speaking on the Rest is Football Podcast, Richards admitted that Galatasaray were a big institution but insisted that Osimhen's talents required a much bigger club.
