According to 7 News, the world and Olympic champion will compete in Victoria at Australia's oldest and most prestigious short-distance running carnival, with Christian Coleman also confirmed for the event.

Renowned sports commentator Bruce McAvaney described Richardson's participation as a massive win for the event, highlighting her status as a "walking and talking headline."

"Not only does she create headlines on the track, but she also creates them off the track for all sorts of reasons," McAvaney told 7NEWS. "You never quite know what you're going to get."

Sha’Carri Richardson, whose personal best of 10.65 seconds is the sixth-fastest 100m time in women's history, is a formidable competitor.

The former world 200m bronze medallist recently secured a silver medal in the individual 100m at the Paris Olympics and anchored the US team to gold in the 4x100m relay.

At last year’s World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, Sha’Carri Richardson anchored Team USA to a gold medal in the women’s 4x100m relay.

"If she brings her A-game to Stawell, we are in for something that we’ll never forget," McAvaney added. "And we’re just hoping she does... I think she’ll win."

Beyond her on-track prowess, Sha’Carri Richardson is known for her 'box office' persona. Her outspoken nature, signature acrylic nails, and a massive social media following of 4.3 million on Instagram are expected to bring an unprecedented level of attention to the historic Australian event.

Her career has also seen significant controversy, including a disqualification from the 2020 Olympics after testing positive for cannabis.

Christian Coleman, 29, is one of only two men to have ever finished ahead of the legendary Usain Bolt in a 100m global final, bringing his own high level of expectation to the competition.
