Samson Dauda: ‘The Nigerian Lion’ crowned Mr Olympia reaches 1 million followers on Instagram

Following his monumental win, Dauda hit another milestone, reaching 1 million followers on Instagram.

Dubbed “The Nigerian Lion,” Dauda’s fan base saw a sharp spike in growth immediately after his October 13 win. 

According to research via Pulse Sports, Dauda gained more than 220,000 new followers between October 13 and 14 alone, a testament to his growing influence both within and beyond bodybuilding circles.

As Dauda continues to bask in his victory, his newfound social media influence solidifies his brand. 

The 32-year-old Lagos-born athlete now stands as a global ambassador for bodybuilding, an inspiration for both Nigerians and fitness enthusiasts worldwide.

Samson Dauda has cemented his place among the world’s elite bodybuilders by claiming the prestigious 2024 Mr. Olympia title.

 Representing the United Kingdom but of Nigerian descent, Dauda’s victory is more than a personal achievement—it is a milestone for both the sport and his heritage. 

Pulse Sports earlier reported that ‘The Nigerian Lion’ walked away with a historic prize of ₦1 billion ($600,000), the largest ever awarded in the competition's 60-year history.

Held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Mr. Olympia competition is the gold standard in bodybuilding. 

The event attracts athletes from all over the globe, with contestants striving for the title of “World’s Strongest Man” in their respective categories. 

For Dauda, this moment has been years in the making. Having begun his bodybuilding journey in 2014, his rise has been nothing short of meteoric.

 He placed third in last year’s competition but took the crown this year after winning the prestigious Arnold Classic earlier in 2024. 

Dauda’s victory represents his resilience and the culmination of a decade’s worth of dedication and training.
