Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers continued their dominant run in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Season 5, securing an 88-82 victory over the host team, FUS de Rabat, in their second game of the Kalahari Conference at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco.

This win comes on the heels of a commanding 81-58 victory over Stade Malien in their opening game, marking a strong start for the Nigerian champions in the BAL’s historic first tip-off in Morocco.

Rivers Hoopers with a big win

Rivers Hoopers finished third-place in the 2024 BAL season and entered the Kalahari Conference with high expectations.

Carrying that momentum into their second game, Rivers Hoopers faced a tougher challenge against FUS de Rabat, a Moroccan basketball giant.

Canadian-Nigerian guard Kelvin Amayo led the charge with 19 points against Stade de Nalien and was also the top scorer against FUS Rabat.

He had 23 points and four assists with help from Madut Akec with 25 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

FUS, despite the loss, showed fight, with their experienced roster pushing the Hoopers to the brink in a game that remained competitive until the final buzzer.
